Wan·der·lust [noun]: A Strong Desire to Travel

After a nearly missed flight, 7 long hours on the plane, and a struggle with my three huge suitcases, I finally made it to Madrid!  We are staying at Hotel Regina, a really nice hotel in the center of the city, on an absolutely beautiful street.  We're staying here for a few days until Saturday, when we all move into our respective homestays for the rest of our time in Madrid.  I had heard that Madrid is a modern city, so I expected it to be kinda grungy and gray, but it is far from that.  Every building (that I've seen so far) is made of stone, with ornate details and amazing statues that make the whole city unique and so different from what I expected.

And our first official stop: Starbucks.  Yeah, it's Starbucks, but we got to place our order in Spanish, so that counts as an authentic experience, right?

After our much needed coffees, we got passport photos taken (that we'll need for orientation), bought some necessities at the pharmacy, and explored the city a little.  Then we headed back to the hotel and took a siesta for the rest of the night--so exhausted from so much traveling.  More later!
